A Lovely Surprise

One of the best things to come out of moving back to Australia, and I guess I have Facebook to thank for it, is reconnecting with some old high school girlfriends.

When I left for the States 13 years ago, I basically lost touch with everyone except for two friends. Now with the internet and facebook, its so easy to find people you used to know and reconnect.

Last night six of us went out for dinner and drinks, and had a great time talking about life, weddings, babies and making fun of all the 18 year olds with skirts that barely covered their parts.

It actually made me grateful to be older and I realise now that I wouldn’t want to be 18 again for ANYTHING. I think life definitely gets better as we get older and while I don’t have any intention of going out every weekend, it is nice to go out once-in-a-while and realise how much more full and rich (?) life is now that I’m older and settled down. I don’t miss clubbing, or partying on weekends until all hours of the morning and being sick the next day. But I have missed having girlfriends to hang out with and I’m really glad I’ve found some old familiar faces and friends again!
